Hi everyone –
I can’t believe we are starting a new year. In 2009 we had over 300 students in the Diamonds in The Rough
program, and this year we expect that number to reach 375 or more! We have added classes to accommodate the
extra students without changing the instructor-to-
student ratio of the classes.
In 2010 we are going to award achievement pins that you can earn for exceptional achievement.
These pins will be awarded for a variety of reasons including winning a contest, being the most improved,
or simply doing your best. At the end of the year we will have something special for the student with the most pins.
Thank you for your generous contributions to our Diamonds In The Rough holiday food drive.
We collected more than 250 items for the Placer County Food Bank. We now have a goal that we can beat next year.

If you are over the age of eight, Dale Smith and I would like to encourage you to become "Par Level Certified" with
The First Tee Program. To accomplish this you will need to pass a written test and a golf skills test at
Haggin Oaks Golf Course. We will have special classes to help you with the golf skills and the
written test required to advance. Our goal is to advance at least 75% of our eligible students.
Just a reminder, the Spring Classes start on February 27th and they are filling up fast (see Schedule).
As soon as you sign up I will submit your name to the
Northern California Golf Association Youth on Course program
so you will be able to get your card or sticker as soon as possible. If you have a card from last year (2009)
you will receive a new sticker for that card.

the important dates for 2010.
