"My name is Bud Perkins and I am a Class "A" member of the PGA of America. I have been playing golf for forty-plus years and teaching professionally for the last ten years.

"After a career in the wood moulding and millwork industry I turned to a second career in golf, my true passion. I graduated Valedictorian (4.0 GPA) from The San Diego Golf Academy with a two-year Associate of Applied Business Degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management. With my business background in management, I soon became a head golf professional, but my love of teaching has led me to the Director of Instruction position at Diamond Oaks Golf Course.

My duties include managing the Diamonds in The Rough Jr. Program, Little Linkers, Diamond Jr. Golf Tour and private and semi-private golf lessons to players of all skill levels. I am also the instructor for the Roseville and Rocklin Recreation Departments’ golf programs at Diamond Oaks Golf Course. While I enjoy all aspects of the golf industry, teaching has by far been the most rewarding."

My Teaching Philosphy

"I feel golf is played by making good golf swings. The swing is divided into a set up, back swing and forward swing. The main function of the set up is to get the player aimed at the target and his or her body in a position to make a golf swing. The back swing gets the player’s body and the club head in position to start the down swing. The down swing emphasizes accelerating the club head through the ball down the target line.

"I try to keep the lessons fun, informative and as simple as possible.
